Unitech Intergalactic is a multi-world corporation based out of Alpha Centauri and with offices on several other worlds around the Alpha Quadrant. Unitech is best known as an artificial intelligence / computer information processing and development firm. For over a decade, Unitech has developed a reputation for discovering and exploiting niche markets, allowing them to quickly grow market share against their competitors.

History
Founded in 2371 by Robert Doan, Unitech began as a specialist consulting firm originally staffed by friends and former students of Perihelion University.
Within 3 years, Unitech branched out on their own, developing independent products and patenting key technologies. In 2377, Unitech applied to the Centauri Stock Index and became a publicly traded Class-II Corporate Entity. Rich patents and several choice contracts made Unitech an attractive investment and provided an influx of capital for rapid growth and expansion.
In 2381, Unitech changed their trading name to "Unitech Intergalactic" and announced plans to become the market leader in computer technology.
Products
Unitech's product history is filled with innovations in nearly every sector of hardware, software and holoware development for civilian, entertainment, commercial and military application.
Many of their computer processing technologies, such as Mark III generational gel-packs, were utilized in Norway and Steamrunner-class test beds. Although while they haven't been picked up for major computer process jobs with Starfleet, they've made a steady profit margin with the expansion of their product through civilian transport craft in and out of the Federation.
It has been rumored that development on a new neural-interface technology for information processing, codenamed "MERGECRAFT" was canceled without explanation. Unitech's press release revealed only that Unitech was "going in a different direction."
Operations
Attempting to live up to the "Intergalactic" half of their corporate identity, Unitech has experienced rapid expansion across the Alpha Quadrant in several key economic sectors. They have offices and manufacturing plants on Alpha Centauri, Andor, Betazed, Alpha Aquilae III, and now Alpha Treibol IV.
Unitech's nearly two thousand employees and scores of subcontractors benefit from the corporation's advanced facilities and copious benefits packages, including corporate living compounds at each facility.
Hostile Takeover - 2385
Unitech Intergalactic became one of the first Federation corporations to make serious inroads into the non-aligned "Emerald Dawn" region, more properly known as the Treibol Star Cluster, in 2383.
Relations between the region and outsiders had never been very cordial, and after invasion by the Cardassia during the height of the Dominion War, relations soured much more. However, Unitech managed to gain entry and set up on Alpha Treibol-IV, the region's leading trade and economic hub.
Early in 2385, that relationship quickly became rocky after a series of attacks. A timeline of the first attacks is listed:
- 0825 hours - Explosions occur at Unitech Intergalactic storage facility 3 miles outside of Epin. 12 are killed in explosions, fire, building collapse (all were Kai workers)
- 0945 hours - As emergency personnel attempt to fight the fire, move through the rubble, a series of booby-trapped mechanisms go off. 19 first responders (Kai) are killed.
- 1102 hours - Explosions occur at Federation orbital trade hub 1. 45 are injured. 5 are killed (2 humans, 1 Vulcan, 2 Andorian).
- 1137 hours - Explosions occur at Federation orbital trade hub 2 during attempts to evacuate over fear of further assaults. 17 Kai are killed. No Federation civilians are injured.
- 1412 hours - A suicide bomber is shot and killed by security personnel at Gestalt Holdings operation center in Epin City. During the attempt to retrieve the body, the explosives are detonated. 19, all Federation civilians, die in the subsequent blast and explosion.
- 1545 hours - A recorded message is received at Epin News Services. In it, a shadowed individual claims responsibility for all attacks.
- 1622 hours - An explosion rocks Velneux Hospital (near the site of the Unitech bombings), killing 5 Kai and destroying the morgue.
This series of attacks prompted an urgent request from the Kai and Unitech itself for Starfleet to intervene and assist in finding and capturing the terrorists. The fleet responded, sending elements of the 101st Operational Wing that mobilized for Operation: Peacemaker.
Under the leadership of the USS Ark Royal, the the ad hoc fleet was able to pacify the terrorist threat, however attacks led to the destruction and loss of the Unitech facility on Kaisan, the corporate yacht Unity I, and Senior Vice President, Director of Advanced R&D Asim Lated.
